Meet Uma
Uma works with children, young adults, and older adults navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, life transitions, school and employment stress, multicultural concerns, and physical disabilities. Her approach is collaborative, supportive, and grounded in helping clients feel heard while identifying the values and patterns that shape their lives.
-
Uma understands that even finding the right therapist can feel overwhelming.
She works to create an environment where clients feel comfortable discussing their experiences, needs, and goals without pressure to have everything figured out from the start.
Uma views each client as the expert on their own life and focuses on understanding the values, experiences, and cultural context that shape who they are.

-
Uma uses an integrative approach to therapy and draws primarily from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy.
With empathy and collaboration, she helps clients identify negative or unconscious thought patterns, better understand their self-concept, and explore what may be getting in the way of meaningful growth.
Her goal is to support clients in identifying their core values and making choices that feel more aligned with the life they want to build.
-
As an immigrant herself, Uma understands some of the complexity that can come with balancing cultures, adapting to new environments, navigating expectations, and defining success for yourself.
That perspective informs the curiosity and cultural awareness she brings into therapy while still recognizing that every client’s experience is uniquely their own.
She works to understand each person’s individual values and lived experience rather than making assumptions about what healing or growth should look like.
-
Uma earned her Master of Arts in Rehabilitation Counseling from George Washington University and her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Microbiology from the University of Florida.
Her experience includes working with diverse populations across the lifespan, including children, young adults, and older adults.
Uma is a Resident in Counseling working toward licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia under the supervision of Jack Fox, LPC.
