Meet Sumona
Sumona works with young adults, older adults, and clients across the lifespan navigating anxiety, depression, grief, ADHD, trauma, addiction, mood concerns, relationships, identity, and belonging. Her approach is culturally responsive, holistic, and grounded in creating a safe, gentle, and nonjudgmental space for healing.
-
Life can be difficult, relationships can feel overwhelming, and figuring out where you belong or what gives your life meaning can sometimes feel daunting.
Sumona works with clients to better understand the purpose behind patterns and behaviors while exploring what healing may look like for each individual.
Her Adlerian perspective places particular emphasis on community, belonging, and the idea that behavior often serves a purpose, even when that purpose is no longer helping us move forward.

Sumona integrates a person-centered foundation with Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, and parts work.
She also incorporates holistic practices such as breathwork, meditation, mindfulness, and psychosomatic approaches when they may be helpful.
As an immigrant who has lived in the United States for decades, Sumona brings personal understanding to the challenges of assimilation, cultural identity, and navigating life within multiple cultural contexts. She approaches those experiences with humility and particular sensitivity to the challenges faced by people of color and underserved communities.
-
Sumona has experience working with clients from young adulthood through later life and values the opportunity to support people across different stages, identities, and backgrounds.
She is multilingual in English, Hindi, Bengali, and Urdu, which further supports her ability to build connection and provide culturally informed care.
Her commitment to underserved communities has also been recognized through the NBCC Minority Master’s Fellowship.

Sumona earned her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Adler Graduate School in Minneapolis and her undergraduate degree in Bioscience from St. Xavier’s College in India.
