Shree Patel, LPC
Licensed Professional Counselor
In-person at Fairfax, with telehealth across Virginia
Meet Shree
Shree works with adults navigating anxiety, depression, addiction, OCD, life transitions, relationship concerns, identity development, and intergenerational family trauma. She has a particular passion for supporting first- and second-generation immigrants, BIPOC clients, and members of the South Asian community.
-
Taking the first step toward therapy can feel overwhelming, especially when cultural expectations, family dynamics, identity, or past experiences make it difficult to know where to begin.
Shree works to create a safe, welcoming, and nonjudgmental space where clients can feel seen, heard, and supported.
She takes a holistic view of each person’s experience rather than focusing only on symptoms, making room for the cultural, relational, and personal factors that may be shaping what someone is going through.

Shree believes a strong therapeutic relationship is built on trust, empathy, and collaboration.
She tailors therapy to each client’s goals and needs and may draw from Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused Therapy.
Her work often focuses on helping clients understand the patterns influencing their lives, build practical coping skills, strengthen self-awareness, and move toward change in a way that feels realistic and culturally responsive.
-
Shree earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health and Addiction Counseling from The College of William & Mary.
She has extensive experience supporting adults around anxiety, depression, addiction, identity concerns, relationships, and family trauma.
Shree has also facilitated groups focused on addiction, teen self-esteem, and helping parents talk with their children about ethnicity and race.
She has training in working with high-risk teens and is currently especially interested in expanding her knowledge of Exposure & Response Prevention for OCD and the impact of intergenerational family trauma.
-
Shree is a huge foodie and loves exploring new restaurants and cuisines.
She also writes with her left hand even though she’s right-hand dominant for just about everything else.
And when it comes to entertainment, she’ll choose a TV series over a movie every time.
