Meet Selena
Selena works with adults, families & children navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, grief, relationship concerns, self-esteem, identity, and major life transitions. Her approach is supportive, collaborative, and grounded in helping clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to create meaningful change.
-
Selena believes every person has the capacity for growth, healing, and meaningful change.
She works to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients can explore what they’re carrying, better understand themselves, and build the resilience and coping skills needed to move through life’s challenges.
Her own experiences as a first-generation Asian American immigrant and member of the Armed Forces have also shaped the cultural awareness and curiosity she brings into the therapy room.

Selena takes a person-centered and strengths-based approach to therapy and adapts the work to each client’s needs, goals, and experiences.
Her work may incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, DBT-informed skills, and trauma-informed approaches.
She is also currently completing EMDR training and is especially interested in helping clients process difficult experiences, strengthen coping skills, and build a deeper understanding of themselves.
-
Selena has a particular passion for supporting military service members, veterans, first-generation individuals, and people navigating questions around cultural identity and belonging.
Her personal and professional experiences have given her an appreciation for the ways culture, service, family, identity, and larger systems can shape both challenges and strengths.
She brings that perspective into therapy while remaining focused on each client’s individual story and lived experience.
-
Selena holds a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and is a Virginia Board-certified Resident in Counseling.
Her training includes trauma-informed care, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, DBT-informed skills, crisis intervention, and suicide risk assessment.
She is currently completing EMDR training and is also interested in pursuing additional training in CBT and Internal Family Systems as she continues expanding her trauma-focused work.
-
Outside of therapy, Selena serves in the Army Reserve as a Parachute Rigger, which means she gets to pack parachutes, jump out of airplanes, and wear a bright red hat to work.
She’s also a proud board game nerd who loves a good strategy game.
And bargain hunting is basically a competitive sport in her world. Finding an amazing deal counts as a small victory.
