Megan Hooper
Resident in Counseling
In-person at Alexandria, with telehealth across Virginia
Meet Megan
Megan works with children, teens, adults & couples, with particular interests in supporting women and young adults navigating anxiety, trauma, relationship concerns, work or academic stress, and major life transitions. Her approach is collaborative, adaptable, and grounded in helping clients build practical tools while feeling supported throughout the process.
-
Life transitions can bring a lot of uncertainty, especially when they overlap with anxiety, relationship stress, work or school pressure, or experiences from the past that still feel present.
Megan works with clients to make sense of what they’re experiencing, identify what may be getting in the way, and build practical strategies that support greater confidence and well-being.
She especially enjoys working with young adults and women as they navigate relationships, changing roles, new responsibilities, and the everyday stress that can come with figuring out what’s next.

Megan draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, and play therapy techniques based on each client’s age, needs, and goals.
Her approach allows room for both understanding what’s happening beneath the surface and developing practical skills that can be used outside of therapy.
When working with younger clients, Megan can also incorporate developmentally appropriate play-based techniques to help create a more comfortable and engaging therapeutic experience.
-
Megan is a Resident in Counseling and works with children, teens, adults & couples.
She has completed Child-Centered Play Therapy 101 and is especially interested in continuing to expand her clinical skills with couples.
-
Megan loves coffee and is always interested in trying a new coffee shop or restaurant.
She also has a three-year-old golden retriever.
And one especially unique fact: Megan was born with horseshoe kidney, a condition in which the kidneys are fused together, and she has one kidney.
