Magdalena primarily draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy while also taking a holistic and adaptable approach to care.
Rather than relying on one fixed method, she integrates evidence-based practices based on each client’s individual needs and goals.
Her aim is to help clients build insight, develop practical tools, and move toward healing, growth, and positive change in a way that feels personally meaningful.
-
Originally from Honduras, Magdalena brings a rich cultural perspective to her work and is passionate about supporting clients from diverse backgrounds.
She is fluent in both Spanish and English and values creating therapy that respects each client’s identity, culture, relationships, and lived experience.
Her background as a teacher also shaped her understanding of how challenges outside the classroom can affect emotional well-being, family life, and a person’s ability to thrive.
-
Magdalena earned her Master’s degree in Counseling from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas.
Before entering the counseling field, she worked as a teacher and holds a Bachelor’s degree in English Language Arts and Reading for grades 7–12.
Her experience working with adolescents and families helped inspire her transition into counseling and deepen her interest in supporting people through emotional, relational, and life challenges.
She is currently completing Virginia’s licensure process as a Resident in Counseling.
