In-person at Fredericksburg, with telehealth across Virginia
Meet Karin
Karin works with teens, adults, couples & families navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, OCD, substance use, relationship stress, personality disorders, and major life transitions. Her approach is collaborative, supportive, and grounded in empathy, with a little humor when it’s helpful.
-
Karin works to create a space where you can be honest about what’s going on without feeling rushed or judged.
Together, you’ll make sense of the patterns that may be keeping you stuck, clarify what matters most, and build practical skills that can help you feel more steady, connected, and confident.
Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, caught in an unhelpful cycle, or simply unsure what needs to change, Karin helps break the work into clear goals and manageable steps toward relief and growth.

Karin takes a person-centered, strengths-based approach to therapy and integrates Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Reality Therapy based on each client’s needs.
Her work balances insight with action. That may mean better understanding where a pattern comes from, practicing new coping strategies, clarifying personal values, or finding realistic ways to use what you’re learning outside the therapy room.
Karin especially enjoys working with complex concerns and helping clients find a path forward when things feel difficult to untangle.
-
Karin is currently completing Virginia’s licensure requirements to become a Licensed Professional Counselor under the supervision of Carolyn Alvarado, LPC, at Healthy Minds Therapy.
She is especially interested in continuing to expand her clinical skills and hopes to pursue training in EMDR as part of her ongoing professional development.
-
Outside of sessions, Karin enjoys spending time with her family, traveling when she can, and getting outdoors.
She genuinely enjoys yard work and finds weeding surprisingly calming. When she’s inside, there’s a good chance she’s listening to a true crime podcast or reading a psychological thriller.
