Meet Courtney
Courtney works with adults navigating anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, neurodivergence, identity concerns, and major life transitions. She is especially interested in supporting people who feel behind, out of sync with expected milestones, or are carrying losses that can be difficult for others to understand.
-
Grief isn’t limited to the death of someone we love.
Courtney has a particular interest in ambiguous and disenfranchised grief, including the loss of time, ability, expected life paths, relationships, or other experiences that may not always be recognized or understood by the people around you.
Cultural differences and neurodivergent communication styles can sometimes make those experiences feel even more isolating. Courtney works with clients to better understand what they’re carrying and develop a relationship with grief and change that respects their culture, lifestyle, and individual experience.

Courtney begins from a person-centered foundation, taking time to understand who you are, what brings you to therapy, and what you hope will feel different.
From there, she may integrate Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, culturally adapted Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, DBT skills, Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Therapy, and grief-informed approaches based on your needs.
Relational-Cultural Theory also informs the way Courtney approaches the therapeutic relationship. She places a strong emphasis on genuine connection, collaboration, and creating a space where clients feel understood rather than expected to fit into someone else’s idea of what their life should look like.
Courtney also brings a neurodiversity-affirming, multicultural, and trauma-informed perspective to her work.
-
Courtney is completing her M.S.Ed. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Old Dominion University and expects to graduate in May 2027. After graduation, she plans to continue toward licensure as a Resident in Counseling.
She also holds a Master of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from American University and previously worked in international adult education and cross-cultural communication.
Courtney regularly participates in continuing education through her membership in the American Counseling Association and Chi Sigma Iota Honor Society.
Looking ahead, she is interested in becoming a Certified Grief Informed Professional and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, as well as pursuing Training for Adoption Competency certification through the Center for Adoption Support and Education.

Music is an important part of Courtney’s life. She loves to sing and has performed as a soloist in several ensembles.
She also enjoys spending time with her husband and her sweet, quirky French bulldog.
When she travels to a new city, she tries to visit two places: the local cathedral and the most popular art museum. And when fall rolls around, there’s a good chance she’s following college football or waiting for NCAA March Madness.
Go Buckeyes.
