-
Cara takes a person-centered, strengths-based, and trauma-informed approach to therapy.
Her work may incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness, and other strategies that help clients better understand their thoughts, emotions, and patterns.
She places particular importance on emotional regulation, helping clients learn to understand and honor their feelings while also developing practical skills for navigating them with greater confidence.
Throughout the process, Cara centers each client’s self-determination and believes therapy should support people in making changes that feel genuinely aligned with who they are.
-
Cara is a Social Work Supervisee currently working toward LCSW licensure.
She earned her undergraduate degrees from the University of Missouri and her master’s degree from Virginia Commonwealth University.
Cara is especially interested in continuing to deepen her understanding of somatic practices and the connection between the mind and body.
She also cares deeply about healthy therapeutic relationships and making mental health care more accessible.
-
Cara enjoys starting art projects without a plan and letting them evolve as she goes.
She also loves coffee, nature, music, and people being unapologetically themselves.
And she may very well encourage you to spend more time around animals, because in her opinion, they’re pretty great.
