Alycia Burant, LPC
Founder, Owner & Chief Visionary Officer
In-person at Fredericksburg, Alexandria & Fairfax, with telehealth across Virginia
Meet Alycia
For more than two decades, Alycia has helped individuals, couples, and families work through trauma, anxiety, relationship challenges, life transitions, and the patterns that can leave even highly capable people feeling overwhelmed or disconnected.
As the Founder and Chief Visionary Officer of Healthy Minds Therapy, she brings that same belief in thoughtful, individualized care to both her work with clients and the practice she leads.
-
Alycia often works with people who appear successful and capable on the outside but are carrying much more beneath the surface. Anxiety, perfectionism, self-doubt, attachment wounds, relationship challenges, or emotional exhaustion can make it difficult to feel as grounded internally as life may look from the outside.
Her work also includes extensive experience supporting women through maternal mental health concerns, including infertility, pregnancy and postpartum challenges, birth trauma, parenting stress, and identity shifts.
Alycia also works with men navigating depression, relationship difficulties, attachment trauma, emotional regulation, and other challenges that can be difficult to name, let alone talk about.

Alycia believes clients are the experts on their own lives. Rather than approaching therapy with a predetermined answer, she works collaboratively with each person to understand what is happening, identify meaningful goals, and create change that feels sustainable beyond the therapy room.
As a Level II trained Sensorimotor Psychotherapy practitioner, Alycia incorporates a body-oriented understanding of trauma and recognizes that emotional experiences can live within the nervous system as well as the mind.
She is also an Advanced Certified Mental Health Integrative Medicine Provider, allowing her to bring an evidence-informed understanding of the connection between mental and physical health into her work.
Depending on each client’s needs, Alycia may also draw from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and person-centered approaches.
At the heart of her work is a simple idea: healing isn’t about becoming someone entirely new. It’s often about reconnecting with who you are beneath the survival strategies, self-doubt, and pain.
-
Alycia founded Healthy Minds Therapy with a vision of making high-quality mental health care more accessible while creating an environment where both clients and clinicians can thrive.
Today, she serves as the practice’s Founder, Owner, and Chief Visionary Officer, helping guide its growth, clinical culture, and broader impact in the communities Healthy Minds serves.
Beyond her clinical work, Alycia is a mental health advocate and leader who is passionate about expanding access to thoughtful, effective care. She balances direct client work with practice leadership, clinical training, and the continued development of Healthy Minds Therapy.
Her perspective has also been featured by Today.com in a discussion of “sunshine guilt” and the anxiety or unease some people experience on bright, sunny days.
-
Alycia earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Virginia Tech, her Master of Arts in Community Counseling from the Argosy University School of Professional Psychology, and a Post-Master’s Certification in School Counseling from the University of South Florida.
She continues advanced training in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and integrative mental health care, with an ongoing focus on trauma, attachment, nervous system regulation, and the relationship between mental and physical wellness.
-
When Alycia isn’t working with clients or leading Healthy Minds, you may find her on a yoga mat, drinking coffee, listening to a true crime podcast, or planning her next trip to Disney World.
She firmly believes there may be something therapeutic about a good ride and a Mickey-shaped snack.
